I had the opportunity to manage Bogdan at Acronis, where he worked on complex engineering challenges at the intersection of software architecture, platform engineering, performance, reliability, and developer productivity.

Bogdan designed and built our internal UI Performance Platform from scratch, taking end-to-end technical ownership of its architecture, implementation, production operation, and continuous evolution. He developed it into a distributed execution and diagnostics platform combining worker orchestration, scheduling, browser automation, reporting, and rich evidence collection through screenshots, video recordings, HAR files, Lighthouse, and Playwright. What began as a performance-testing solution grew under his ownership into a broader engineering platform for repeatable execution, troubleshooting, and technical investigation.

He also designed safety-gated chaos engineering and incident-reproduction workflows for Kubernetes and virtualized environments, integrating diagnostics, recovery procedures, and rollback controls. In addition, he contributed to provisioning automation and explored practical, accountable ways of introducing AI-assisted engineering into existing development workflows.

One of Bogdan’s strongest qualities is that he does not treat architecture as an isolated activity. He is equally comfortable defining system direction, working directly with code and infrastructure, investigating difficult production issues, or helping a team turn an ambiguous problem into a clear and actionable plan. He consistently looks beyond the immediate implementation and considers reliability, operability, security, maintainability, and long-term ownership.

I also valued the way Bogdan worked with people. He listens carefully, communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, challenges assumptions constructively, and provides direct but thoughtful feedback. He regularly contributed through architecture reviews, technical brainstorming, mentoring, and hands-on troubleshooting, helping colleagues understand not only what should be done, but also why.

Bogdan is particularly well suited to Principal-level engineering, solution or platform architecture, and hands-on technical leadership roles that require ownership, sound judgment, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration. I would recommend him without hesitation and would be glad to work with him again.

Throughout my tenure at the company, I've had the privilege to work alongside Bogdan, whose prowess as a developer is genuinely commendable. His knack for problem-solving, coupled with an adept understanding of coding intricacies, made him an invaluable asset to our team. Bogdan Torcescu helped the Softbinator community by volunteering as an IT Consultant on server-side services from configuring linux, configuring security rules and software (firewall / apache mod_security / honeypots / csf / suphp) to even malware analysis and malware removal.
